The future president of the prestigious debating society has been ousted from office after losing a vote of confidence that followed his controversial social media posts about Charlie Kirk.
The motion against the student leader reached the necessary super-majority to remove him from office, according to an statement from the society.
The dispute began after the student reportedly posted messages on social media that seemed to celebrate the killing of Charlie Kirk, who was shot dead while speaking at a university in the United States.
According to reports, one Instagram post reportedly stated "Charlie Kirk got shot loool" - using an elongated version of the acronym for 'laughing out loud'.
The president-elect is also said to have written in a WhatsApp chat with other members appearing to welcome the incident.
The no-confidence motion took place over the recent days, with results announced on Tuesday.
Official notices indicated that over twelve hundred votes were cast supporting no confidence, while 501 were against the motion.
The notice stated that the future president was deemed to have resigned in accordance with the society's regulations.
Voting operations were informally suspended early on Monday after the returning officer was reportedly subjected to "interference, threats, and inappropriate behavior" from multiple individuals.
In a response, Mr Abaraonye claimed that the vote tally had been stopped because election administrators believed "no valid outcome could be reached as a result of process errors".
His statement unequivocally denied that any person acting for George had participated in threatening or obstructive conduct.
The president-elect maintained that significant concerns had been referred to the disciplinary committee and that he remained the elected leader.
His statement added that he was "proud and thankful to have the support of well in excess of a majority of students at Oxford" who voted to have a "secure voting process and oppose efforts to undermine the electoral process".
Critics have argued that any decision to keep him would "signal to the world that the Oxford Union has prioritized politics over principles".
On recently, Kirk's former chief of staff presented an public message to the society on The Charlie Kirk Show podcast.
The message accused the union of becoming a place where "presidents of the union openly applaud the assassination of a ideological rival".
The communication warned that if Mr Abaraonye were to keep his position, Kirk's allies would "directly reach out to every U.S. political figure who has ever graced the union's chamber and advise them against future participation".
The Oxford Union had previously criticized the student's remarks after the activist's killing and confirmed that complaints filed against him had been referred for official review.
The student leader had been one of multiple members to discuss with Kirk at the society in spring.
