Automobiles in German City Discovered Smeared with Nazi Symbols in Blood, Law Enforcement Report

Incident location Affected vehicle Area Police
Officers reported they were alerted by a individual who found a vehicle in Hanau marked with red-colored fluid

Around 50 cars have been smeared with what appears to be blood from a person in the Germany's town of Hanau close to Frankfurt, according to police.

Cars, walls and mailboxes were defaced, in some cases with Nazi symbols, they announced in a release.

Law enforcement report they were notified in the late hours on Wednesday evening, when a man observed that a car in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been marked with a reddish-hued substance.

The fluid had been applied in the form of a banned symbol, they added.

Law enforcement then found numerous other smeared cars and residential walls in the nearby vicinity.

Nazi symbols are banned in Germany under legislation outlawing the visible presentation of symbols from the Nazi era.

Police state preliminary tests show the liquid was most likely blood from a person.

"There is still no clue as to its source; officials are currently not cognizant of any harm in connection with the incident," they added.

Municipal representatives announced they were trying "to resolve the case" and have asked to the public for tips.

A senior political figure stated the attack left him speechless and had to be solved rapidly.

"This incident hits the very heart of Hanau and reopens the pain of the right-wing terrorist attack five years ago," he wrote on a platform, mentioning the murder of nine individuals by a shooter aiming at people of immigrant origin in 2020.
